Vertical Garden

A vertical garden is a vertical surface partially or completely covered with vegetation which includes a growing medium such as felt or soil.

  • To increase green spaces and biodiversity in urban areas.
  • To provide thermal insulation to building surfaces.
  • To increase quality of life in urban areas.

Facing the challenges of industrialized and ‘grey’ urbanism, one of the projects of Auroville Collaborative is to reinsert ‘green’ in urban areas and encourage people to regain urban gardening and agriculture.

For this purpose, a vertical garden module was designed with a pre-grown system, which allows for fast installation. A module has been designed with a special felt, used as a planting medium along with an automated irrigation and fertilization system.
